Having to rehome your dog is never an easy decision and sometimes it can be made out of sheer frustration or thinking there is no other option. At UK Spaniel Rescue, once we have received your rehoming form, we will contact you to discuss your options to see if there is any way we can help you to keep your dog. Of course, no matter your decision we will support you in the best way we possibly can.
Some issues may not need our help. We will ask if your dog has had a vet pain check recently for any sudden changes in temperament and to rule out any underlying issues. Of course this may not shed any light on your dog’s issues and one of our behaviourists will contact you to see how they might further help you, even if it is just in the short term whilst we are finding a placement for your dog.
If your dog has seen a behaviourist, it will help our rehoming team if you are able to provide a copy of their report, again, this will help us to make the best decisions for your dog and determine how best to help. Please upload this with your application form.
Your dog must be microchipped to the person submitting the rehoming form. If not, we will need a letter of authority from the registered keeper in order to process your application and if you are not able to provide a medical history for your dog, we will ask you to sign an authorisation form to allow us to access this from your vet.
You will be assigned an Adoption Co-ordinator and a behaviourist to support you through the rehoming process and answer any questions you may have and we will ask a volunteer to pop round and carry out a basic assessment of your dog before progressing.
Please note, for insurance purposes, we will only take responsibility for your dog once the surrender form is signed and returned it to us
