UK Spaniel Rescue Ambassador Dog – Buster

Buster is currently living his best life with his foster dad. He came to us with his brother Rocky, following the sad death of his owner. Rocky has since been adopted by his foster mum which left Rocky on his own until his foster dad got in touch with us and asked if he could foster Buster.

After the usual checks, it was agreed that Buster could go and live with his foster dad until a furever home could be found for him but a few weeks later, his dad contacted us to say that he didn’t want to part with Buster and was there any way he could keep him? Buster was a complicated little man who preferred the company of men so the trustees had a talk about what was best for Buster and agreed that he could go on permanent foster as he was settled and it might not be possible to find him another male only home. His foster dad then asked if Buster could be an ambassador dog for UK Spaniel Rescue. Again, we thought this was a great idea and a plan was worked out for Buster’s care then lo and behold! We lost another foster (the third one in as many rehomings).

The rescue world is crying out for foster carers to provide a stop gap for their dogs but in all honesty, how can we say no to these amazing people who open their homes to dogs to give them their second chance?

And that was how it happened!

Welcome to UK Spaniel Rescue HQ, Buster and Richard!

A quick update from Buster’s Foster Dad

Buster has been with me for about 8 weeks now. He came to me with a few issues??? The only one I have seen is if he has a toy that he is playing with and you and tried to take it off him. He won’t give it up, and you might get a growl. But if you show him another toy or a treat, he gives the toy up. If I am sitting and having a pint, I won’t give it up unless you give me another one. I don’t find that a problem. He is a really nice, friendly, and loyal dog. He sleeps on my bed and always sleeps behind my back. If I turn over, he gets up and goes behind my back. On our first walk of the day, it’s the time the children are going to school. He has to say hello to the lollypop man. Also to as many children and adults as possible. He has been on group walks with up to about 15 dogs, mostly spaniels. He loves them all. When I first took him on a walk, he would not go in the water. Now I can’t keep him out. He has bonded with me now I can’t move. He is very gentle and has not got a bad bone in his body. He is a Star. Thank you, UK Spaniel Rescue for giving Buster another chance. I love him to bits.”

And thank YOU Richard for giving him that second chance!

We also had a lovely email from a lady called Alison

Just a quick email to say I met and spoke to Buster and his fosterer yesterday and what a lovely dog he is. He is obviously well bonded to his handler and they seem to bring each other much joy. Our dog who is nervous happily played with him and I found out all the wonderful work the charity did.

An absolute credit
