Adoption Co-ordinator

Key skills and qualities
* To manage all parts of the rehoming process from first contact to adoption
* To be the first point of contact for all matters pertaining to that dog
* To arrange for our behaviourists to contact owners where there is a bite history or behavioural issues
* To provide support for owners surrendering their dog and updated with all processes of the surrendering process
* To contact prospective adopters or fosters to find a suitable match
* Ensure the foster carer(s) have the necessary equipment / food for the dog.
* Liaise on a regular basis, at minimum weekly, with the foster carer(s) to discuss any issues they may have as a foster carer or with the dog they are fostering.
* Ensure a vet account is set up via Admin at an appropriate and accessible vet for the foster carer.
* Ensure basic vet care (via adoption co-ordinator): – health check, vaccinations, flea treatment, worming, spay / neuter and microchip are completed prior to adoption and ideally prior to foster placement unless an emergency placement.
* Obtain guidance / authorisation regarding any vet treatment required extra to the basic health care except in an emergency.
* Ensure Admin / Rehoming are provided with write ups / photos and videos of the dog for promotion.
* Ensure the Social Media team are updated as and when for the website write ups.
* Ensure they co-ordinate adoption visits (with adopters who will have been already home checked and approved by Admin / Rehoming)
* To liaise with other members of the team to arrange homechecks, assessment, fostering or adoption
* To advise the Secretary of dates needed for paperwork following an agreed foster or adoption
* To advise all people of the Gift Aid scheme
* Provide feedback and suggestions to forms, documents and process

The ideal person would:
* Have an outgoing personality and be comfortable dealing with members of the public both on the ‘phone, social media or by email
* Be diplomatic!
* Be comfortable using computers including Gmail, Google Drive & Facebook
* Have an understanding that rescue isn’t easy, sometimes there will be difficult decisions to be made or an understanding that we are unable to help some owners
* Understand the importance of confidentiality and the basic concepts of GDPR
