June is microchip your pet month

Beware of scammers!!!

If you’re not sure about the details on your microchip, log into the database your pet is registered to and check. It doesn’t cost you anything to check but it might cost you to update the details if they aren’t correct. this includes ‘phone numbers and emails.

If you don’t know which database your dog is registered with, you can check by going to this website https://www.check-a-chip.co.uk/

If you don’t know your microchip number, ask your vet to scan your dog when you next go for a health check, vaccination etc. and then check the details when you get home.

It is a legal requirement that your dog (and now cat) is microchipped by a registered microchip implanter. If you aren’t sure where there is one, your vet can do it or there are a number of mobile microchippers. Check this website https://www.animaltracker.co.uk/find-an-implanter/

If you fail to get your dog or cat microchipped you run the risk of being fined. You can find out more on the Government website
