His foster mum continues, “He is used to mostly being off lead, so when on a lead he weaves a little, but is not overly strong. Loves retrieving (I have used dummies as opposed to tennis balls, for the main reason he can’t choke/inhale a dummy). He is quick to learn, and has recently being doing some games where he has to find mashed sardines in various places – I have a “Sensory” wall and he has also done it from the garden wall.
He has gone through agility tunnels, walked up ramps etc., so low impact agility wouldn’t be a problem for him. Man trailing, canicross (shorter distances – not marathons) he would love. He is not phased by anything presented to him, and is very accomodating to having a try at anything.
He is however, very rarely, temperamental with other dogs in that, from what I have seen, he is not actively looking for friendship, or interaction from other dogs, he simply has eyes for his human. He won’t actively go to meet a other dog, but if another dog gets in his personal space I have had him growl (once) – hence why I have advised he is housed as a single dog. He is not bad with other dogs, he simply has no real interest in them. I have him living alongside other dogs, walking him with other dogs – it’s simply if they appear overly excited, or start sniffing him, he isn’t keen on it.
Currently he is fed alone, as I don’t want other dogs invading his space. So any treats (daily at 4PM!!), he is crated for his natural treat – where he can enjoy at his leisure.
He really is, a most loving dog, who will soon become a perfect companion. He is a loyal, affectionate, doting boyand is very eager to please. Toby is very typical spaniel. One hundred miles an hour hunting and sniffing“.
