You will provide a vital service in helping to transport animals to and from homes as required
Key tasks
• Please follow the guidelines given to you prior to the transport
• Ensure you are punctual and polite
• Alert the Rescue if you have any concerns
• To be able to secure the dog at all times during the transport process – ideally with a crate. If using a harness, you MUST have another person with you
• To ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the animals being transported – you
must allow time for breaks if undertaking a long journey
Key skills and qualities
• Must possess a full UK driver’s licence
• Must own your own vehicle suitable for transporting dogs
• Be confident when transporting the dogs whilst being aware that some may have
• behavioural issues due to previous trauma and may be nervous or sensitive
• Be able to list the dogs in and out of the vehicle
• Be a confident driver
• Be aware of the dogs’ behaviour and respond appropriately
• Be reliable and trustworthy
• Able to work on own initiative
Please make sure your insurance company knows you are carrying out voluntary work with your vehicle
You must be over 18
Your safety
• Always make sure you let someone know where you are going and how long you expect to be
• Check out the area you will be visiting beforehand if you can and plan your route
• Wherever possible, carry out journeys during daylight hours
