When we share our lives with dogs who communicate with body language, movements and positioning, that means they are always watching us and what we are doing.
At Christmas this can be forgotten when we have so much going on. We have a role to play in ensuring that how our friends and family interact with our dog is calm, clear and not like in the illustrated diagrams here by Dr Sophia Yin or like in the picture.
If your dog is not comfortable with an approach or interaction then it is not the dog’s fault. Change the situation, interaction, give space, give a choice and make it positive. Your dog does not suddenly need to become the life and soul of the party and handle everyone if it is unsure.
If you want to download the illustrated sheet and print out as a reminder for children or visitors, please do.
