Sometimes potential adopters are unable to travel long distances to meet their chosen dog. Our Meet & Greet Facilitators help make these meetings possible by bringing the dog and potential adopters together in a suitable location.

What You'll Be Doing
Meet & Greet Facilitators help potential adopters meet their chosen dog on neutral territory. This can be particularly helpful when families are unable to travel long distances.
You’ll arrange a mutually convenient time and suitable location, collect the dog from their owner, spend around 30 minutes to an hour with the potential adopters, and then return the dog to their owner.
The purpose of the visit is to give potential adopters the opportunity to get to know the dog and to allow you to provide feedback to the UK Spaniel Rescue team about how the meeting went.
Key Skills and Qualities
- Must possess a full UK driving licence.
- Must own your own vehicle suitable for transporting dogs.
- Be confident transporting dogs, while being aware that some may have behavioural issues due to previous trauma and may be nervous or sensitive.
- Be able to lift dogs in and out of the vehicle.
- Be a confident driver.
- Be aware of the dogs’ behaviour and respond appropriately.
- Be reliable and trustworthy.
- Be able to work on your own initiative.
- Have a good knowledge of suitable places for dogs to meet, such as secure dog fields. UK Spaniel Rescue will pay for the use of a field if necessary.
- Be confident around dogs.
- Have excellent verbal communication skills.
- Be able to work independently.
- Be able to arrange to meet the owner and their dog at a mutually convenient time.
- Obtain relevant information about the dog’s behaviour and history where available.
- Observe the dog’s behaviour in social situations.
- Observe the dog’s behaviour with household members.
- Represent UK Spaniel Rescue in a professional and confident manner.
- Have basic computer skills.
- Ensure your insurance company knows that you are carrying out voluntary work using your vehicle.
- You must be over 18.

You won’t be on your own. We can offer you full support and a dedicated contact while carrying out Meet & Greet duties.
We can also reimburse fuel at 35p per mile for agreed journeys.
