Our Adoption Co-ordinators play a vital role in helping our dogs find their forever homes. They guide each dog through the rehoming process, working with owners, foster carers, adopters and other members of the UK Spaniel Rescue team.

Key Skills and Qualities
- Manage all parts of the rehoming process, from first contact through to adoption.
- Be the first point of contact for all matters relating to the dog.
- Arrange for our behaviourists to contact owners where there is a bite history or behavioural issue.
- Provide support to owners surrendering their dog and keep them updated throughout the surrender process.
- Contact prospective adopters or fosters to find a suitable match.
- Ensure foster carers have the necessary equipment and food for the dog.
- Liaise regularly, at least weekly, with foster carers to discuss any issues they may have with their role or with the dog they are fostering.
- Ensure a vet account is set up, via Admin, with an appropriate and accessible vet for the foster carer.
- Ensure basic veterinary care is completed before adoption, and ideally before foster placement unless the placement is an emergency.
- Obtain guidance or authorisation for any veterinary treatment required beyond basic care, except in an emergency.
- Ensure Admin / Rehoming receive write-ups, photographs and videos of the dog for promotion.
- Keep the Social Media team updated for website write-ups.
- Co-ordinate adoption visits with adopters who have already been home checked and approved by Admin / Rehoming.
- Liaise with other members of the team to arrange home checks, assessments, fostering or adoption.
- Advise the Secretary of dates needed for paperwork following an agreed foster or adoption.
- Advise people about the Gift Aid scheme.
- Provide feedback and suggestions regarding forms, documents and processes.
The Ideal Person Would:
- Have an outgoing personality and be comfortable dealing with members of the public by phone, social media or email.
- Be diplomatic.
- Be comfortable using computers, including Gmail, Google Drive and Facebook.
- Understand that rescue isn’t easy and that sometimes difficult decisions have to be made, including situations where we are unable to help some owners.
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and the basic principles of GDPR.
