This role involves travelling to the current owner’s home and assessing the general behaviour of the dog. You will be given a basic assessment form that should be completed to the best of your ability and emailed back to us. Use of a printer is desirable as our forms need to be printed off and taken to the home visit.
We ask you –
• To arrange to meet up with the owner and their dog at a mutually convenient time
• To obtain relevant information about the dog’s behaviour and history where available
• To observe the dog’s behaviour in social situations
• To observe the dog’s behaviour with household members
• A brief walk with the dog to observe behaviour on lead (both walked by the owner and if possible, the assessor)
Skills:
• Confident around dogs
• A good level of animal welfare knowledge and experience
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Able to work independently
• Able to represent the UK Spaniel Rescue in a professional and confident manner
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Basic computer skills
Should you, at any time, feel uncomfortable carrying out the assessment, stop, makes notes on your form and move on to the next part of the assessment. YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!
Fuel will be re-imbursed at the rate of 35ppm or this can be donated back to the rescue if you do not wish to claim.
We would also ask, if you are a tax payer, to complete a Gift Aid form to allow us to claim 25p in every £ back from the Government
