Meet & Greet Facilitator

There may be occasions when we will need a volunteer to facilitate a ‘Meet and Greet’ between a dog and the potential adopters.  This will involve the volunteer arranging to pick up the dog, arrange a mutually convenient place to meet up, spend about 30 minutes to an hour with the potential adopters getting to know the dog and returning the dog to its owner

Purpose of the role: To allow potential adopters to meet their chosen dog on ‘neutral territory’ and able to give feedback after the visit

Key skills and qualities
* Must possess a full UK driver’s licence
* Must own your own vehicle suitable for transporting dogs
* Be confident when transporting the dogs whilst being aware that some may have behavioural issues due to previous trauma and may be nervous or sensitive
* Be able to lift the dogs in and out of the vehicle
* Be a confident driver
* Be aware of the dogs’ behaviour and respond appropriately
* Be reliable and trustworthy
* Able to work on own initiative
* Have a fair knowledge of suitable places for the dogs to meet e.g. a secure dog field.  (Of course, we will pay for the use of the field if necessary)
* Confident around dogs
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* Able to work independently
* To arrange to meet up with the owner and their dog at a mutually convenient time
* To obtain relevant information about the dog’s behaviour and history where available
* To observe the dog’s behaviour in social situations
* To observe the dog’s behaviour with household members
* Able to represent the UK Spaniel Rescue in a professional and confident manner
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
* Basic computer skills
