We were contacting by a vet to say that a dog had been abandoned with them. All they knew was that she was about 6 years old and her name was Queen (or Queenie) and that the gentleman bringing her in was doing so for a ‘friend’. They were travellers. She was not neutered experiencing a phantom pregnancy and lactating. She didn’t look as though she had been bred from but she was a very loving little girl who needed lots of attention that, unfortunately, she couldn’t get at the vets because they were so busy BUT all the staff would stop by and spend as much time as they could with her. She had a flea infestation and an ear infection that were both being treated at the vets and she had had a bath. Apparently she loves her sleep and snores!!! The vet said she was ‘very food orientated’ so she may have to lose a few lbs.
We instantly put out a request for someone to foster her for us and had 2 lovely ladies who responded to that request, one of whom was a long 6 hour drive away and another from her now Foster Mum who drove 8 hours there and back to pick up our little orphan. For that, we can’t thank her and her husband enough.
We are so thrilled to let you know that she is now receiving first class treatment and is being given time to decompress and get used to her new surroundings. She is settling in as well as she can and I have to say, she is a stunner. Her Foster Mum says, “She seemed very interested in the motorway traffic, and completely closed to us…she is quite chunky, gets on ok with my lot and they with her, they have just had a communal meal, no need to separate, at this point anyway” and after her first night, “some wags, not interested in toys, found herself a bed and slept well”
Of course she will need more vet care and eventually a spay operation but at this point we’re just happy to have been able to give her the chance of a loving home.
In the meantime, as much as we hate to say it, we will need help with her bills. If you can spare anything at all it will be a huge help. We need to get this little girl well again, mentally as well as physically.
